Growing Learners supports the development of children from 6 weeks to 6 years old! Our dedicated and passionate staff work together to provide the highest level of care imaginable. We go beyond meeting basic needs—we create specially designed instruction to help each child achieve their targeted skills and developmental milestones.

Job Description

The role of a teacher at Growing Learners is to provide exceptional care and create a safe, nurturing environment for all children in our center. Teachers are expected to uphold the high standards and quality of care established by Growing Learners, while working collaboratively with fellow members of the teaching team.

We value inclusivity and expect our staff to be welcoming and respectful to all families, regardless of their beliefs, abilities, or backgrounds. Teachers must also adhere to mandated reporting policies as outlined by the State of Maine, ensuring the safety and well-being of every child in our care.

Job Expectations – Teacher Role at Growing Learners

  • Foster Positive Interactions with Children
    Engage with children at their level, maintaining eye contact and interacting frequently in a warm and supportive manner.

  • Encourage and Model Appropriate Behavior
    Demonstrate positive behaviors and guide children in developing social-emotional skills.

  • Support Development Through Play
    Guide children during play with age-appropriate activities, engage in meaningful conversations, and support their emotional needs.

  • Ensure Active Supervision
    Maintain supervision of children at all times—by both sight and sound.

  • Assist in Curriculum Development
    Contribute to the creation and implementation of developmentally appropriate curriculum.

  • Follow Health and Safety Procedures
    Adhere to all health and safety guidelines as outlined by the center and state regulations.

  • Maintain a Clean and Organized Environment
    Keep the classroom and personal workstations tidy, organized, and inviting.

  • Build Strong Parent Partnerships
    Greet parents warmly at drop-off and pick-up, share brief updates about their child’s day, and offer guidance to help create emotionally supportive environments at home.

  • Update Daily Documentation
    Record observations and daily updates consistently throughout the day.

  • Collaborate with Coworkers
    Cultivate respectful, supportive, and team-oriented relationships with fellow staff members.
